- 2 cups of milk
- 2 cups half and half
- 1/2 cup of semi sweet chocolate chips
- 1/2 cups of milk chocolate chips
- 1 teaspoon sugar (optional)
- Splash of vanilla extract (optional)
Instructions
- Using a double broiler (this can be done in a sauce pan but be careful the chocolate and milk will burn very easy!)
- Combine milk and half and half in double broiler. Warm over medium heat, then stir in chocolate chips.
- Stir until chocolate chips are melted. taste... if its too much chocolate add a splash of milk to taste. If it's not sweet enough add 1 teaspoon of sugar.
- Top with Cinnamon Whipped Cream
Variations
- Mint Hot Chocolate - Drop 1 to 2 mini peppermint patties into the mug before adding the hot chocolate, stir to melt. (You can also use the Tollhouse mint chocolate chips used for cookies, it works just as well if you want to make the whole batch minty. just substitute the semi sweet chips for the mint ones)
- Peppermint white chocolate Hot Chocolate - Substitute the semi sweet chocolate and milk chocolate chips with white chocolate chips. so it will be 1 cup white chocolate chips. Start with 1 teaspoon of peppermint extract. Taste and add a splash more if needed. I like mine with plain Whipped Cream.
